Fabulous…NKOTB!!

There is always something fabulous about taking a stroll down memory lane, but these days that stroll is a reality. The boy band, which made legions of tweens swoon in the late ‘80s & early '90s became a worldwide phenomenon before calling it quits in 1994. The newly reunited boy band…New Kids on the Block performed together for the first time in 15 years this morning live on the TODAY SHOW while hundreds of screaming fans watched the group sing a medley of both their new songs and old favorites. Assembled in Boston in 1984 by producer Maurice Starr, the members consisted of brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood. The group went on to sell over 70 million albums worldwide, generated hundreds of millions of dollars in concert revenues, and paved the way for acts like Backstreet Boys, Take That and *NSYNC. The pop group will begin their reunion tour in September 2008 when it kicks off in Toronto, Canada & a new album is set for release this autumn. Fabulous…Human Rights!!

There is nothing fabulous about unequal treatment, unjust laws, censorship, medical abuse, discrimination in health, jobs or housing, abuse against children and women…etc. But, there is something fabulous about bringing awareness and making a difference. May 15, 2008 is all about Human Rights…as bloggers unite to make a difference. Human rights can only be achieved through an informed and continued demand by people for their protection. Human rights education promotes values, beliefs and attitudes that encourage all individuals to uphold their own rights and those of others. It develops an understanding of everyone's common responsibility to make human rights a reality in each and every community. People around the world face violence and inequality…sometimes torture, even execution…because of who they love, how they look, or who they are. Sexual orientation and gender identity are integral aspects of our selves and should never lead to discrimination or abuse. Amnesty International USA works for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people’s rights, with activists representing a multiplicity of identities and issues. They document and expose abuses based on sexual orientation and gender identity worldwide – including torture, killing and executions, arrests under unjust laws, unequal treatment, censorship, medical abuses, discrimination in health and jobs and housing, domestic violence, abuses against children, and denial of family rights and recognition. They work to advocate laws and policies that will protect everyone’s dignity and for a world where all people can enjoy their rights fully. One of the most powerful ways to promote the continued evolution of LGBT human rights and to interrupt the cycle of violence against LGBT people is through education. Learning about human rights and learning how to respect others and defend their human rights is fundamental to creating a culture that supports the human rights of all. Fabulous…Tribal Touches!!

Are you into this summers ethnic trend…but don’t want to overdo it? May I suggest a more delicate approach? Patrizia Iacino is known for taking everyday objects that would be considered to most as trash and turning them into one of a kind hand crafted jewelry pieces.
